UGM Vice-Rector for Education and Learning, Professor Wening Udasmoro, received a visit from the Governor of the National Resilience Institute (Lemhanas), Andi Widjajanto, along with the participants of the Domestic Strategic Studies (SSDN) program on Tuesday (11/7).
During this brief meeting, the two parties discussed several topics, including the issue of radicalism within the scope of universities and poverty alleviation, particularly in the Special Region of Yogyakarta.
“Anti-radicalism is included as part of the curriculum. UGM has an identity as a national university, a university of struggle, a Pancasila university, a people’s university, and a culture center. We want to explain that up to the most substantial level, the course level,” explained Professor Udasmoro.
She explained that UGM is making various efforts for national resilience. UGM’s strategic plan, she said, is designed to produce physically and mentally resilient students.
As explained by the vice-rector, the strong emphasis on health literacy on campus includes aspects of physical health and lifestyle, mental health, social health, and ideological health.
“The younger generation is confronted with physical and mental health issues due to lifestyle and pressures from society and the family. This makes students across Indonesia vulnerable,” she said.
The Governor of Lemhanas explained that the SSDN participants are conducting a series of visits in the Special Region of Yogyakarta to study the community’s uniqueness in relation to national resilience. The visit to UGM, he said, specifically aims to explore aspects of social and cultural education.
“The SSDN participants are asked to focus on five studies: democracy, digitalization, green economy, blue economy, and the national capital, Nusantara,” said Andi Widjajanto.
During this occasion, the SSDN participants posed questions about UGM’s role and policies in responding to various issues at the national and regional levels.
“Thank you for the warm welcome given to us. Hopefully, this meeting and discussion will further deepen UGM’s interaction with Lemhanas,” added Widjajanto.
