The UGM Alumni Family (KAGAMA) in West Java held an alumni gathering in Bandung on Wednesday, November 29, 2023. The event was attended by the Rector of UGM, Professor Ova Emilia, MD, and the university’s leadership.
The Chair of the KAGAMA Board in West Java, Dodo Suhendar, MD, explained that the event was a forum for fostering camaraderie and an effort to strengthen the synergy between alumni and UGM in university development and community building.
Suhendar, MD, recounted that the West Java Board was formed in early 2020 with members scattered in the Bandung and Cirebon areas.
Established at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, members of KAGAMA in West Java could only meet occasionally, but activities continued, especially in assisting in handling the impact of COVID-19.
“In the future, we hope that KAGAMA can maintain its unity, harmony, and spirit to benefit people and serve as an example,” he added.
The chair hopes UGM could conduct the independent admission test (UM-CBT) in West Java areas. His party has also visited schools in West Java to inform UGM’s admission tests.
“KAGAMA in West Java is ready to provide a location for the UM-CBT,” he said.
He also encouraged UGM students currently competing in the 2023 National Student Scientific Week (PIMNAS) at Padjadjaran University.
“Hopefully, the UGM contingent can achieve victory in PIMNAS 2023,” he said.
Professor Ova Emilia expressed her gratitude to the alumni for the synergy and collaboration that has been carried out. Alumni have played a significant role in the development of UGM.
On this occasion, the rector also thanked KAGAMA in West Java for hosting the UGM contingent who qualified for the 36th PIMNAS at Padjadjaran University. She asked for alumni support for the UGM contingent in this prestigious competition.
“It’s a pride for UGM to send 62 teams to PIMNAS this year,” she said.
With these 62 teams, UGM becomes the university with the most teams qualifying for PIMNAS.
“Hopefully, they can win. All the teams here are winners fighting for the best,” the rector said, encouraging all UGM students.
