Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) has opened registration for the 2024 UGM Scholarship, allocated from the 2023 Solidarity for Excellent Education Contribution (SSPU).
The scholarship component consists of educational assistance equivalent to the semester tuition fee or a maximum of Rp4,000,000 per student per semester for two semesters. This scholarship, initiated in 2023, is allocated to assist students experiencing financial difficulties to continue their studies.
“This is one of UGM’s ways to facilitate students needing financial assistance to continue their studies,” stated Dr. Arie Sujito, Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Community Service, and Alumni of UGM.
Dr. Sujito explained that this scholarship manifests UGM’s concern and is in line with UGM’s commitment to providing extensive opportunities for young Indonesians from various socio-economic backgrounds to obtain the best education at UGM.
In 2023, UGM also awarded scholarships worth more than Rp260 million, allocated from the Voluntary Contribution for Institutional Development (SSPI) of 2022. This scholarship has helped dozens of students from the 2022 batch continue their studies despite their families’ economic difficulties, with an assistance amount of Rp3,000,000 per student per semester.
For 2024, UGM Scholarship registration is open from Mar. 13 to Mar. 22, 2024. This scholarship is intended for active undergraduate and applied undergraduate students from the 2023 batch with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.00 and from economically disadvantaged families, provided they are not receiving other aid forms.
The documents required for scholarship applicants include the transcript for the odd semester of 2023/2024, the scholarship application form, a recommendation letter from the faculty, a statement of financial need, and proof of parental income up to a gross maximum of Rp5 million per month.
“We will conduct a rigorous selection process. We hope this scholarship will be targeted to those who truly need it,” added Dr. Sujito.
UGM Scholarship registration is done through simaster.ugm.ac.id. In addition to this scholarship, UGM students can access information about various other scholarships available on the ditmawa.ugm.ac.id/welfare page.
