The energy-efficient vehicle team from Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Semar UGM, is strategically preparing to compete in the 2025 Energy-Efficient Car Contest, to be held in Jember from Oct. 23 to 26, 2025. As one of the most prestigious national competitions in energy-efficient transportation innovation, this event brings together top student teams from across Indonesia.
“This year, our goal is to defend the championship title and continue introducing fresh innovations. We want Semar UGM to remain a leader, not only in competitions but also in shaping the future of Indonesia’s energy-efficient transportation,” said Ghani Prayatna, Chair of Semar UGM, on Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2025.
He added that every team member is committed to delivering top performance and maintaining consistency in overcoming each challenge.
Previously, Semar UGM achieved remarkable results, with efficiencies of 298.8 km/kWh in the Urban Electric category and 938 km/kWh in the Prototype Electric category, which led to their win in both categories.
“This achievement further cements Semar UGM’s position in the energy-efficient vehicle arena and motivates us to continue pursuing even better innovations in the future,” he noted.
As the reigning champion from the previous series, Semar UGM carries the dual mission of defending its title and advancing sustainable innovation in energy-efficient vehicles.
This year, Semar UGM introduces its latest models: Semar Urban Electric 1.1 and Semar Proto 4.0.
“Both vehicles represent our newest innovations and are fully powered by electricity,” Prayatna explained.
Semar UGM’s participation in the 2025 contest is backed by partners who share its vision for sustainability.
This year, the team is proud to be supported by Sari Roti, TAVI, Air Liquide, Pos Properti Indonesia, Toyota Astra Motor, Fero Inovasi Indonesia, BP Consulting, JLCPCB, Konveksi Seragam Jogja, and Toyota Astra Finance.
This synergy between student innovation and committed partners is a cornerstone in driving the transformation toward sustainable, energy-efficient transportation.
