Kagama (UGM alums family) in Jakarta organized a reunion called “Temu Kangen Kagama DKI” held joyfully on Sunday (23/7) at Ecovention Ancol Jakarta.
This highly anticipated event served as an important moment for the alums, especially those in Jakarta and its neighboring cities, to reunite, meet each other, and strengthen their bonds of friendship.
More than 3,000 alumni gathered with the same spirit and enthusiasm, in line with the event’s theme, “Guyub Rukun Konco Kabeh,” also enlivened by a Sheila on 7 performance.
The event was graced by the presence of the Central Management of Kagama, represented by Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi, and the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs, M. Mahfud MD.
The leadership team from Universitas Gadjah Mada, represented by Vice-Rector for Research, Business Development, and Cooperation Ignatius Susatyo Wijoyo, was also present to support the event.
The reunion commenced with a speech delivered by Teuku Sahir Syahali, the organizing committee chair for Temu Kangen Kagama DKI.
The chair hoped this event would become a platform facilitating interaction, collaboration, and strengthening networks among UGM alums in various aspects of life.
“Today’s event is not just a concert; the essence is to reunite and reconnect. I apologize for the registration fee, but the collected funds, which reached hundreds of millions, will be used to support UGM students facing financial constraints,” he explained.
Universitas Gadjah Mada warmly welcomed Kagama DKI’s good intentions in organizing this event.
The vice-rector expressed gratitude for this event because the alums present were indirectly fulfilling the commitment of the university’s tri dharma (three primary duties: education, research, and community service) to solving the nation’s problems.
“The continuously improving reputation of UGM is inseparable from the contributions of the alums who have excelled in various fields. Therefore, we invite all alums to work together to advance UGM tangibly, in line with the motto locally rooted, globally respected,” he concluded.
In addition to Sheila on 7’s outstanding performance, the reunion featured an expo booth with over 50 MSMEs owned by alums and various sponsors and an exclusive guitar auction, signed by Eros and Duta from Sheila on 7.
