Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) has opened a quota of 10,000 for prospective new students in undergraduate and applied undergraduate programs for 2026.
“In total, the number of new students admitted to undergraduate and applied programs is around 10,000,” said Dr. Sigit Priyanta, the Secretary of UGM’s Directorate of Education and Teaching (DPP), on Wednesday (Feb. 4) at UGM.
Dr. Priyanta explained that UGM admissions are conducted through the SNBP, SNBT, and Independent Selection pathways.
Referring to last year’s quota, he said that the proportion of new students admitted through the National Selection Based on Achievement (SNBP) was 30 percent, the National Selection Based on Tests (SNBT) 30 percent, and Independent Admission 40 percent.
“The percentage allocation is still under review as we await data on quota requests for each pathway. For now, UGM is still using last year’s percentage distribution,” he said.
In addition to the regular admission pathways, Dr. Priyatna noted that UGM also opens admissions for the International Undergraduate Program (IUP). Through this pathway, UGM allocates approximately 1,000 student quotas.
“Around 1,000 students are admitted through the IUP pathway,” he said.
The first application intake for the IUP pathway opened on Jan. 20 and will close on Feb. 19, 2026. This year, UGM’s IUP will offer 31 study programs. Dr. Priyatna explained that the IUP is one of UGM’s flagship programs, designed to meet international standards across all aspects.
With an international learning environment, the IUP collaborates with international partners in teaching and learning, international exposure activities, and research.
“This certainly provides a more global learning environment,” he explained.

Furthermore, Dr. Priyatna noted that one of the key strengths of the IUP is its limited student intake. This allows for more intensive interaction and discussion in the classroom during the learning process. As a result, opportunities to enhance both hard skills and soft skills become more accessible.
In addition, all IUP students are required to participate in international exposure programs. Through this structure, students are academically prepared to advance to the next level globally.
“It is not merely about delivering instruction in English, but about preparing students academically in a more specific and rigorous manner,” Sigit explained.
The selection mechanism for the IUP is different from that of regular programs. The selection process is conducted on campus at UGM for intakes one, two, and three, with the second wave carried out online.
Prospective IUP applicants must have an account on the admission.ugm.ac.id website. In addition to serving as the application platform, the site provides comprehensive information on IUP admissions and the required application documents.

Following the administrative review process, applicants will take English proficiency and academic potential tests, interviews, GMST, SJT, or focus group discussions, depending on the relevant faculty.
For the UGM’s Faculty of Engineering (FT UGM), the IUP selection process this year follows the same procedures as other faculties, with the additional requirement of submitting proof of English proficiency.
The submitted English proficiency documents are assessed to determine whether they meet the requirements, based on score thresholds and the test provider’s credibility.
“Applicants who meet the requirements will automatically pass the English proficiency selection and will not need to take an additional test,” he said.
For information, the IUP admissions process consists of three application intakes. In the first intake, which is currently underway, a larger student quota is available than in the second and third intakes.
“We recommend that prospective UGM students who plan to apply through the IUP pathway prioritize the first wave,” Dr. Priyatna said, adding that further details for each study program can be accessed through the admission.ugm.ac.id website.
