The Community Service Task Force of Universitas Gadjah Mada (Satgas KKN UGM), in collaboration with the Gadjah Mada Alumni Family (Kagama), has distributed solidarity donations to the families of two UGM students who passed away while undertaking their service duties as part of the KKN-PPM program in Southeast Maluku.
The donations reflect the deep concern and empathy of the entire UGM academic community and alumni for the loss of Septian Eka Rahmadi (Faculty of Engineering) and Bagus Adi Prayoga (Faculty of Forestry).
The two students passed away in a maritime accident while participating in an environmental revitalization initiative alongside local residents. Their community engagement was part of UGM’s ongoing commitment to addressing social challenges in Indonesia’s underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost regions (3T areas).
“This solidarity fund was raised through a collaborative fundraising effort initiated by Satgas KKN UGM 2025 and Kagama,” said Yanto Herlianto, Coordinator of Satgas KKN UGM 2025, on Thursday (Jul. 10).
The fundraising was conducted in an open and participatory manner, involving a wide network of alumni and academic members across generations and regions. Funds were collected via two official bank accounts under the names of Satgas KKN UGM members Yuniar Surindrasworo (BNI) and Dian Nur Amalia (BRI). This approach was adopted to ensure transparency and accountability while encouraging broad participation from the UGM community and its alumni.
A total of 302 donors contributed to the solidarity initiative, raising Rp116,611,902. The total amount was equally distributed between the two families, with each receiving Rp58,500,000 after rounding.
The donation aims to provide both moral and financial support to the bereaved families. Although the fundraising campaign was brief, it successfully mobilized solidarity from various elements of the UGM community across Indonesia.
The donation to the family of Bagus Adi Prayoga was delivered by representatives of Kagama East Java on Tuesday (Jul. 8) at the family’s residence in Bojonegoro. The handover was carried out directly in an emotional atmosphere, witnessed by local community figures and alumni.
Meanwhile, the donation for the family of Septian Eka Rahmadi will be delivered on Sunday, Jul. 13, 2025, by representatives of Kagama West Nusa Tenggara. Both moments serve as a tangible reflection of UGM alumni’s commitment to nurturing the values of unity and compassion.
“This initiative is not merely a fundraising campaign, but a powerful symbol of togetherness, grief, and deep empathy from the entire UGM family,” Herlianto added.
He further emphasized that student community service should not be seen as an individual responsibility alone, but rather as a collective effort that deserves mutual support. Herlianto expressed hope that this spirit would continue to thrive and remain an integral part of UGM’s culture in every form of service.
UGM extends its heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to all parties who have expressed solidarity in various forms. Contributions have come not only through financial means, but also through prayers, moral support, and active communication networks on the ground.
This collective strength, built through the campus and alumni community, stands as a strong foundation in navigating grief and shared challenges. May this donation help ease the burden of the grieving families and serve as a concrete expression of the spirit of mutual cooperation that UGM holds in the highest regard.
