Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) and San Pedro College of the Philippines have established cooperation in education and development. The partnership was formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Tuesday (Jul. 22) at the Rector’s Guest Room, UGM Central Office.
UGM Vice-Rector for Research, Business Development, and Partnerships, Dr. Danang Sri Hadmoko, and Dean of the School of Business at San Pedro College, Dr. Genaro F. Alderite, Jr., signed the MoU.
Dr. Hadmoko stated that the collaboration will strengthen ties across Southeast Asia. Beyond the socio-humanities field, both institutions also see opportunities for cooperation in science and technology, health, and agri-complex studies. He added that many potential areas for collaboration will be explored in the future.
“Culturally, Indonesia is close to the Philippines. Strengthening collaboration among Southeast Asian countries is important, and we are pleased to engage in this partnership,” said Dr. Hadmoko.
Dr. Genaro F. Alderite welcomed the initiative, noting that UGM, as one of Indonesia’s leading universities, can provide valuable opportunities to enrich students’ learning experiences, particularly in research and community service. He expressed confidence that both UGM and San Pedro College possess strong educational quality both nationally and internationally.
“I believe this cooperation will serve as a platform to develop our resources, enabling us to achieve global competitiveness, not only in Asia but also worldwide,” Dean Alderite remarked.
The scope of the cooperation includes student, faculty, and researcher exchanges; joint conferences; collaborative lectures, seminars, and symposia; visiting professor programs; and the exchange of academic information and materials.
