The President Director of WIKA Gedung, Hadian Pramudita, made a working visit to the UGM campus on Friday (October 13).
During this visit, he and the Rector of UGM agreed to explore opportunities for collaboration in building and road construction research applications and to strengthen the student internship program.
“We want to build further cooperation in the future where we, UGM alongside the community, can build something needed by the public,” the president director stated.
“For instance, how we can make affordable and fast houses, how to construct quickly, or collaboration in research on making concrete asphalt roads with a mixture of waste plastic materials researched by UGM.”
To support the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka program, Hadian mentioned they offer opportunities for lecturers and students to gain experience in WIKA companies specializing in concrete construction, buildings, and roads.
“It is our obligation as a state-owned enterprise, aside from supporting our business interests, to participate in the intellectual development of the nation, especially because we receive about 5-6 projects from UGM. Therefore, if possible, WIKA should also contribute to UGM,” Pramudita elaborated.
He believes that this exploration of collaboration will strengthen the learning ecosystem on campus because, for him, UGM is already strong in theory. Conversely, WIKA Gedung has practical experience in the field.
“There are two aspects here: UGM excels in theory, while we excel in practicality. It’s about how lecturers, students, and we combine these two so that what is taught by lecturers to students can be directly absorbed, making it more comprehensive,” he emphasized.
UGM’s Rector, Professor Ova Emilia, MD, expressed appreciation and welcomed the WIKA management’s visit to UGM.
“We hope that through the collaboration being built, it will yield results in the form of the development of knowledge and student and staff talents based on research product results,” she explained.
Additionally, the participation of students in MBKM activities at WIKA, according to the rector, further enhances their experience and skills to apply their knowledge practically.
“There is a learning process with various experiences they acquire during internships because it enhances their ability to handle field problems,” she added.
During this visit, the President Director of WIKA Gedung was accompanied by the Director of Quality, Health, Safety, Environment, and Marketing, Dwi Purnomo, and the Director of PT Perusahaan Pembangunan Semarang Demak, Dwi Purnomo.
Meanwhile, Rector Ova Emilia was accompanied by the Vice-Rector for Planning, Assets, and Information Systems, Dr. Arief Setiawan Budi Nugroho; the Director of Assets, Dr. Ahmad Sarwadi; the Director of Partnerships and Global Relations, Professor Puji Astuti; and the Director of Planning, Dr. Ely Susanto.
