Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) has soared to the zenith of scholarly achievement, clinching the highest SINTA score among all universities in Indonesia as of early 2023.
As per the SINTA website (https://sinta.kemdikbud.go.id/) on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024, UGM proudly secures the top position, boasting a remarkable SINTA score of 1,359,729 over three years and an overall SINTA Score towering at 3,689,410.
The SINTA score is a pivotal yardstick for gauging scientific publication performance in Indonesia employed by the Ministry of Education and Culture. The Science and Technology Index (SINTA) has been crafted to monitor and evaluate the landscape of scientific publications within Indonesia.
Professor Mirwan Ushada, the Director of Research at UGM, expressed profound pride in the university’s feat of being the highest scorer in the SINTA ranking nationwide. This accomplishment is a resounding echo of the collective research excellence emanating from UGM’s faculties.
“This achievement stands as tangible proof that the research outputs of UGM’s lecturers and researchers command national and international recognition,” he elucidated on Monday (Jan. 8) at UGM.
Professor Ushada emphasized that the current success marks the myriad efforts undertaken by UGM to elevate the quality and quantity of publications authored by its esteemed lecturers and researchers.
Among these efforts, a pivotal strategy involves enhancing the caliber of internationally acclaimed and impactful publications. This strategic thrust is facilitated through a spectrum of assistance and incentive programs.
Notable among these initiatives are incentives for published works, the mandate for producing high-impact papers, support for presentations or the orchestration of international conferences, academic excellence enhancement initiatives, doctoral competence refinement programs, collaborative research schemes, RISPRO LPDP initiatives, PUIPT-PT initiatives, young lecturer researcher capacity-building programs, and collaborative research centers.
Moreover, UGM has implemented facilitation programs designed to fortify research quality improvement. These initiatives include establishing publication clinics, language editing, plagiarism checking, Nature Research Academic, and Nature Masterclass Online.
“UGM remains steadfast in its commitment to advancing the quality of internationally recognized and impactful publications, research patents, international research collaborations, and bolstering the execution of community service programs,” he added.
“These endeavors underscore the harmonious synergy between the UGM Directorate of Research and faculty units, tirelessly steering the research performance achievements of UGM’s lecturers and researchers.”
