Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) has been recognized as a higher education institution concerned about workplace social security.
This award was presented directly by the Vice President of Indonesia, Ma’ruf Amin, to Professor Supriyadi, the UGM Vice-Rector for Human Resources and Finance, in Jakarta on Friday (October 20) during the 2023 Paritrana Award ceremony.
The Rector of UGM, Professor Ova Emilia, MD, stated this award is a testament to UGM’s contribution to raising awareness about the importance of social security in the workplace (Jamsostek).
“Furthermore, UGM continues to expand the coverage of participation in social security related to employment,” said Professor Emilia on Saturday (October 21).
This award is an initiative of the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, in collaboration with the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan agency, since 2017.
It aims to increase awareness and active involvement of regional governments and businesses in providing social security protection for employees.
The UGM Director of Human Resources, Professor Suadi, added that the increased awareness is expected to increase the coverage of participation in employment social security.
It is a government effort to fulfill its responsibility in ensuring the people’s basic living needs and enhancing the dignity of the citizens, in line with the law’s mandate.
“This is UGM’s commitment to all UGM employees, both permanent and contract employees, and even to students participating in the Community Service Program (KKN-PPM),” Professor Suadi emphasized.
The HR director further explained that the spirit of the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan benefits that are widely facilitated at UGM aligns with the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), such as strengthening and affirming efforts for a healthy and prosperous life for UGM employees, as well as providing quality education opportunities for students participating in the community service program.
In 2022, UGM was awarded the 2022 Paritrana Award at the provincial level in the Public Service Category. As the provincial winner in the public service category, UGM has the opportunity to represent the province of Yogyakarta at the national level.
