Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) has again received recognition for its public relations and communication performance.
At The 2nd Indonesia DEI & ESG Awards (IDEAS) 2023 held on Friday (4/8) in Belitung, UGM won two Gold Winner titles in the sub-categories of Gender Equality and Diversity from the DEI-Based Strategic Public Relations Programs category and Climate Change from the ESG-Based Strategic Public Relations Programs category.
“UGM has a genuine commitment to sustainability issues, which is translated into various aspects, including our daily public relations and communication activities. This award recognizes what UGM has done, especially through the Public Relations and related units,” explained the University Secretary, Dr. Andi Sandi Antonius Tabusassa Tonralipu.
Dr. Tonralipu said that UGM’s commitment and contribution to sustainability align with its mission in education, research, and community service, as well as preserving and developing excellent and beneficial knowledge for society.
UGM is among the top 50 universities in the world contributing to delivering the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 1, 7, and 9, based on an assessment conducted by Times Higher Education (THE), a renowned ranking institution.
IDEAS is a competition for communication programs and strategic public relations programs based on the best practices of the application of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) communications in ministries, institutions, local governments, public universities, State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), BUMN subsidiaries, Regional-Owned Enterprises (BUMD), public hospitals, multinational corporations, national private corporations, NGOs, and non-profit organizations throughout Indonesia.
Humas Indonesia, a community-based media and government public relations ecosystem in Indonesia, organize the competition.
“This is the first time UGM has participated in the IDEAS competition. Apart from being a way to assess the extent of the impact of our communication strategies, by participating in competitions like this, we hope to receive input for improvement,” added Dr. Tonralipu.
Previously, UGM picked up numerous public relations awards, including the Best Government Public Relations Program in Environment and Climate Change and Health Program categories, at the 2023 Indonesia GPR Awards (IGA).
UGM also won Gold Winner for the Digital Channel category and more awards at the 2023 Public Relations Indonesia Awards (PRIA).
