A resounding accolade echoed through the halls of Universitas Gadjah Mada as 907 faculty and non-teaching staff members were honored for their unwavering commitment, receiving recognition for 15, 25, and 35 years of loyalty, as well as retirement.
The ceremony, a blend of online and offline, unfolded under the guidance of the Rector of UGM, Professor Ova Emilia, who presented the awards to representatives at the UGM Senate Hall on Wednesday (Jan. 17).
This group of 907 awardees comprised 416 faculty members and 491 non-teaching staff. In terms of accolades, 260 individuals were bestowed with Retirement Awards, 280 with 15-year Loyalty Awards, 221 with 25-year Loyalty Awards, and 146 with 35-year Loyalty Awards.
The 41 work units at Universitas Gadjah Mada that received loyalty and retirement awards for 2023 stood a testament to the institution’s gratitude.
Professor Suadi, the UGM Director of Human Resources, conveyed that these awards express appreciation for the dedication and service of faculty and staff during their tenure at Universitas Gadjah Mada.
The certificates of appreciation, bestowed upon civil and non-civil servant faculty and non-teaching staff, serve as a token of acknowledgment for their loyalty, honesty, skill, and discipline rendered to the university.
“This is given to those who have served for 15, 25, 35 years or have retired. The awards are expected to foster pride, exemplary behavior, fighting spirit, and motivation to continue to work and contribute positively to UGM in particular and to increase dedication to the nation and country,” Professor Suadi mentioned.
Rector Ova Emilia expressed that the retirement and loyalty awards for 15, 25, and 35 years represent an authentic acknowledgment from UGM to the faculty and staff who have dedicated themselves wholeheartedly.
For those entering retirement, she sees these awards as a model for future generations. According to her, retirement provides a golden opportunity to explore previously neglected fields.
“Maybe those who like gardening, painting, or even writing can develop those interests further. Their thoughts and experiences are valuable if passed on to the next generation,” the rector remarked.
Rector Emilia consistently wishes retirees health and happiness and aspires that the familial bond within the university will endure.
“Suggestions and proposals for the progress of beloved Universitas Gadjah Mada are welcomed,” she added.
Congratulations extended to the employees who received 15, 25, and 35 years of loyalty awards. The rector believes these awards are not the zenith of achievements but rather a testament to commitment and a reminder of the passage of time.
As she highlighted, time cannot be bought, yet it marches ceaselessly forward. Everyone aspires that their actions and forward strides become more meaningful for collective existence. Ultimately, the awards received are anticipated to serve as a wellspring of motivation and enthusiasm.
“Congratulations to all; this award also reminds us always to maintain the integrity, loyalty, and dedication of the academic community in work and creation and to become a driving force for UGM to achieve its vision and mission,” she concluded.
