In commemoration of World Mental Health Day on October 10, 2023, the Center for Public Mental Health (CPMH) at the UGM Faculty of Psychology organized a series of activities for the public.
The activities, under the theme “Mental Health for All,” were designed to raise awareness and mental health literacy among the Indonesian population.
CPMH head Dr. Diana Setiyawati said the celebration included launching massive open online courses (MOOCs) on mental health literacy, psychological first aid, and family resilience.
These activities were organized in collaboration with the Indonesian Ministry of Health and the UGM Center for Innovation and Academic Policy.
“These online courses are free and open to the public. Those interested can register, and the instructions can be found on the CPMH Psi UGM YouTube channel,” the head stated.
In addition to the online courses, Dr. Setyawati mentioned the center held an infographic competition on mental health.
Registration for the competition was open from October 2 to 31, 2023. Through this competition, Dr. Setyawati hoped the public would learn, express creativity, and actively participate in efforts to improve mental health literacy.
Furthermore, the Center for Public Mental Health organized a blood donation drive in collaboration with the Indonesian Red Cross of Sleman and a Mental Health Symposium with the UGM Health Promoting University (HPU) team on October 10, 2023.
The symposium was attended by Dr. Rahmat Hidayat, the Dean of the Faculty of Psychology; Dr. Supriyati, representing the HPU; Dr. Diana Setiyawati, a psychologist and the Head of CPMH; and Dr. Sofia Retnowati.
Aside from being a platform for discussion among UGM’s academic community, the symposium aimed to improve the mental health system within the campus environment and provide a better understanding of the importance of mental health in daily life.
