UGM students have achieved a remarkable feat in the 2023 Geosinindo Geosynthetic Application Challenge (GGAC) organized by PT Tetrasa Geosinindo.
In this competition, the Gama Koerner team secured 1st place, outshining 53 other teams from various universities in Indonesia.
The team was led by Hendrayana (Civil Engineering 2020) and consisted of Muhammad Febrilian K.P. (Civil Engineering 2020) and Hafizh Majid Darojad (Civil Engineering 2020), accompanied by Dr. Sito Ismanti.
“We are proud to achieve first place and bring glory to our university at the national level,” said Hendrayana.
The journey of the Gama Koerner team to the top was not an easy one.
Before reaching the finals, they had to go through a series of selections. In the preliminary round, each team was tested on their fundamental knowledge of geosynthetics and their applications.
In the final stage of round 1, each team was given ten questions about the basic concepts and applications of geosynthetic materials in projects.
Next, in round 2, each team was presented with a case study and had to solve the given case with geosynthetics, including the implementation method.
In the last round, there were 20 contested questions related to geosynthetics and their applications.
“Participating in this competition offers many lessons. We hope our achievement can motivate and inspire other students to excel,” he added.
