Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) and Bojonegoro University have agreed to collaborate on higher education’s tri-dharma (three pillars: education, research, and community service) and assist in establishing the Faculty of Geography at Bojonegoro University.
This agreement was formalized in a signing ceremony conducted by UGM Vice-Rector for Education and Teaching, Professor Wening Udasmoro, and Bojonegoro University Rector, Dr. Tri Astuti Handayani, on Thursday (Jun. 6) at the UGM Central Office.
The scope of this collaboration covers three main areas: employee recruitment, which includes job posting information, on-campus recruitment (campus hiring), internships, career seminars or workshops, and job fairs (career expos); collaborative Community Service Programs (KKN-PPM) which entails the implementation of joint KKN-PPM with Bojonegoro University in the Bojonegoro and Tuban regions of East Java; and assistance in establishing the Faculty of Geography that sees UGM’s guidance and support in creating the Faculty of Geography at Bojonegoro University.
Professor Udasmoro welcomed the opportunity for cooperation, emphasizing the importance of improving the quality of higher education in Indonesia. She noted that every institution has strengths and weaknesses, and such partnerships can help institutions evaluate and learn from each other.
“Each institution has its strengths. The most important thing is how we synergize so that everyone progresses together,” said the vice-rector.
She highlighted that signing the agreement marks the beginning of a new collaboration between the universities, which is expected to foster further innovations to make Indonesian education more inclusive and sustainable.
“We have very open and advantageous opportunities for cooperation,” she added.
Dr. Handayani emphasized that this partnership would greatly assist both universities in enhancing their educational quality, particularly in implementing the three pillars of higher education.
“We have a mission to produce innovative and competitive human resources by 2030. Therefore, this collaboration aligns with our mission to establish mutually beneficial relationships with the government, institutions, and stakeholders,” she said.
She expressed appreciation for UGM’s willingness to provide guidance and assistance, specifically in the planned establishment of the Faculty of Geography at Bojonegoro University, which will be directly supported by the UGM Faculty of Geography.
“We hope this initiative will run smoothly and be beneficial in the future,” said Rector Handayani.
