Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Cooperation Agreement for the Bayan Peduli Education Scholarship Program with PT Bayan Resources Tbk.
The Bayan Peduli Education Scholarship is one of PT Bayan Resources Tbk’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs as a commitment to support financially disadvantaged and high-achieving students to facilitate their access to education.
This full-ride scholarship is aimed at 40 new UGM students from low-income households in the 2023 cohort. It will cover tuition, thesis, graduation, accommodation, and living expenses for four academic years from 2023/2024 to 2026/2027.
The MoU signing between the President Director of PT Bayan Resources Tbk, Dato’ DR. Low Tuck Kwong, and the Rector of UGM, Professor Ova Emilia, MD, occurred in Jakarta on Thursday, July 27, 2023.
Subsequently, the Cooperation Agreement for the scholarship was signed by Dato’ DR. Low Tuck Kwong and Alastair Mcleod from PT Bayan Resources Tbk and Dr. Arie Sujito from UGM as the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Community Service, and Alumni.
The Director of PT Bayan Resource, Merlin Sanjaya, stated that the signing of the MoU and Cooperation Agreement is a significant moment for the implementation of the Bayan Peduli CSR program, aiming to achieve meaningful social change through education as a key factor.
The support and collaboration of partners and universities are expected to contribute positively to the education sector in Indonesia.
Aligned with the goals of the Bayan Peduli Education Scholarship, Universitas Gadjah Mada fully supports this initiative as part of its contribution to Sustainable Development Goals 1 and 2, which focus on social development and economic development, aiming to improve well-being as a fundamental right for every individual that must be fulfilled fairly and equally.
The Bayan Peduli program is expected to enhance access to education and opportunities for financially disadvantaged students, making them a positive force for societal change.
The Director of Student Affairs, Dr. Sindung Tjahyadi, expressed gratitude and appreciation for PT Bayan Resources Tbk’s support towards UGM students through this scholarship.
This support aims to improve the company’s and UGM’s partnership and inspire students to study more effectively. Hopefully, it will benefit more and more deserving students.
The ratification of this Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation Agreement for the Education Scholarship Program will help UGM students access educational support to achieve academic and extracurricular goals while realizing their full potential until graduation, supporting them to become graduates who bring positive changes to society.
