Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) and PT Putra Perkasa Abadi (PPA) have agreed to establish a partnership in the fields of research, technological development, and human resource advancement. The agreement was formalized through a memorandum of understanding signed on Friday, Aug. 8, 2025, at the Executive Meeting Room, UGM Central Office.
UGM Vice-Rector for Education and Teaching, Professor Wening Udasmoro, stated that the collaboration aims to support the growth of Indonesia’s industrial sector by strengthening human resource competencies.
“A strong quality of human resources is what we have been thoroughly preparing, especially in the field of engineering,” she said.
Vice-Rector Udasmoro emphasized the need to align industrial demands with university-based research and innovation.
Therefore, she believes that a well-planned partnership from the outset can form a balanced and promising collaboration for both parties.
“Moreover, UGM, as a university with a strong foundation in research and academic excellence, can effectively channel these strengths into the industrial sector,” she added.
President Director of PT PPA, Joko Tri Raharjo, explained that PT Putra Perkasa Abadi is one of Indonesia’s leading mining contractor companies.
He noted that many mining firms have not yet initiated the kind of collaboration his company is undertaking with UGM.
He expressed optimism that this joint effort would benefit both sides.
“We firmly believe that progress can be achieved when the industrial and academic worlds unite,” he stated.
President Director Raharjo highlighted three key pillars of this collaboration: joint research, technology transfer, and human capital development.
Additionally, both parties agreed to prioritize occupational safety and a strategic response to the challenges of Industry 4.0, which demands a robust technological infrastructure to support mining operations.
