
Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) held a graduation ceremony for 917 postgraduate students at the fourth Graduation Ceremony of the 2024/2025 Academic Year on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at Grha Sabha Pramana. The graduates consisted of 746 Master’s program graduates, 74 from Medical Specialty programs, 18 from Medical Subspecialty programs, and 79 from Doctoral programs, including two international graduates.
This marked a historic milestone, both a culmination of academic pursuit and a new beginning for graduates to contribute to various fields.
UGM remains committed to advancing academic excellence and social relevance across all its postgraduate programs.
In her address, Professor Wening Udasmoro, Vice-Rector for Education and Teaching, expressed her appreciation for the graduates’ academic achievements.
She also emphasized the importance of establishing professional networks to support future career goals.
Vice-Rector Udasmoro emphasized that the graduates’ success was not merely the result of individual effort but also a collaborative endeavor involving the academic community, families, and institutions.
Amid global shifts, she encouraged UGM graduates to remain adaptive and visionary.
“Don’t forget that networking is one of the keys to career success. Kagama is a network already within your reach,” she stated.
In this graduation, the Master’s program recorded an average study duration of 2 years and 1 month.
Mahendra Pamungkas, from the Master of Business Administration program at the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB UGM) Jakarta Campus, graduated the fastest, completing his degree in just 11 months.
The youngest graduate was Safira Nur Aini from the Master of Agronomy program, Faculty of Agriculture (Agriculture UGM), who completed her studies at the age of 22 years, 7 months, and 18 days.
A total of 386 Master’s graduates earned cum laude honors, with an average GPA of 3.72, and 14 students achieved a perfect GPA of 4.00.
These accomplishments reflect UGM students’ ability to balance academic demands with a commitment to excellence.
The results also demonstrate the quality of education and strong academic support systems within UGM’s postgraduate environment.
In the Medical Specialty Program, the average study duration was 4 years.
Noorasyilla Galuh Paramesti from the Periodontics program at the Faculty of Dentistry (FKG UGM) graduated in 2 years, 10 months, and 8 days.
The youngest graduate was Christopher Ernesto Budi, also from the same program.
A total of 48 graduates received cum laude honors, with an average GPA of 3.80. The highest GPA of 3.99 was achieved by Vania Erriza from FKG UGM.
These Medical Specialty graduates have demonstrated a high level of dedication in the health field, particularly in clinical services and scientific advancement.
Their contributions are vital to addressing healthcare challenges at both national and global levels.
Meanwhile, the Medical Subspecialty Program recorded an average study duration of 2 years and 8 months.
Azwar Aruf from the Pediatric Medicine Subspecialty program at the Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing (FK-KMK UGM) was the fastest graduate, completing his degree in 2 years while also attaining the highest GPA of 3.99.
The youngest graduate in this program was Gita Novalina.
Fourteen out of eighteen graduates received cum laude honors, with an average GPA of 3.82.
Graduates from this program are expected to strengthen referral health services across various regions in Indonesia.
For the Doctoral Program, the average study duration was 4 years and 3 months.
Yustinus Maladan from the Doctoral Program in Biology, Faculty of Biology (Biology UGM), was the fastest graduate, earning his doctorate in just 2 years, 9 months, and 7 days.
The youngest doctoral graduate was Fikhri Astina Tasmara from the Doctoral Program in Physics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA UGM), who graduated at the age of 25 years, 8 months, and 16 days.
A total of 41 doctoral graduates received cum laude honors, with 22 of them earning a perfect GPA of 4.00.
The average GPA among all Doctoral graduates was 3.87.
These achievements highlight the academic competitiveness of UGM’s doctoral graduates on both national and international levels.
They are expected to become leaders in research and innovation across various strategic sectors.
Secretary of the Aceh Provincial Government and a member of the Central Management of Kagama, Muhammad Nasir, emphasized the importance of upholding scientific values and integrity as a UGM alumnus.
He also encouraged graduates to view higher education as a form of social investment that brings widespread societal impact.
The spirit of service and moral responsibility as UGM alumni must always guide every step.
“To be a knowledgeable individual must be accompanied by the willingness to learn, humility, and openness to the changing times. The world is moving fast, and global challenges will continue to arise. We are confident that UGM graduates will be able to face these challenges with wisdom, courage, and strong collaboration,” he said.
Representing the graduates, Yustinus Maladan shared his reflection on the academic journey during his doctoral studies.
He called on his fellow graduates to be prepared for an era of rapid technological change and artificial intelligence.
He also underscored the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in solving national problems.
Maladan expressed his belief that UGM graduates can become agents of change through tangible contributions across sectors.
“The value I’ve learned during my time at UGM is how we adapt to the times, and use knowledge not just to survive, but to create change,” he conveyed.
He also highlighted Indonesia’s rich biodiversity, which must be sustainably harnessed through scientific approaches.
He expressed confidence that UGM alumni can play a significant role in developing innovations rooted in biodiversity.
According to him, the application of technology and research should aim to improve societal welfare while preserving environmental sustainability.
This graduation moment is expected to mark the beginning of meaningful contributions rooted in science and humanity.
“I am confident that, as UGM alumni, we are capable of making a significant impact in those areas,” he added.
