The UGM Vice-Rector for Education and Teaching, Professor Wening Udasmoro, and the UGM Director of Education and Teaching, Professor Gandes Retno Rahayu, visited the locations for the 2024 UGM Entrance Exam (UM UGM CBT).
The visits were conducted at the UGM Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing (FK-KMK UGM), the UGM Vocational College (SV UGM), and the UGM Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB UGM).
During the visit to FK-KMK UGM, centered at the Tahir Foundation Building, the UGM leadership observed eight participants with disabilities, including two with physical disabilities and six with hearing impairment.
Vice-Rector Udasmoro stated that 41,973 participants took the UGM Entrance Exam in 2024. Of these, 32,414 took the test in Yogyakarta, and 9,559 took it in six other cities in Indonesia: Jakarta, Kupang, Balikpapan, Medan, Pekanbaru, and Makassar.
On this occasion, Vice-Rector Udasmoro emphasized that UGM’s policy will continue to expand access to equitable student selection for the outermost regions of Indonesia through the Talent Search for Outstanding Students (PBU) for Affirmative Action and 3T Areas program. Therefore, it is possible that in the coming years, tests will be opened in more regions.
“We are currently designing the possibility of conducting the UGM Entrance Exam in Papua. This will certainly open up wider opportunities for Papuan students who wish to study at UGM,” she said at FIB UGM Wednesday (Jun 12).
In addition to opening the UGM Entrance Exam in various regions, the vice-rector mentioned that UGM will also conduct interview processes via Zoom as part of the selection process in the coming years. This is important to assess the readiness of prospective students studying at UGM.
Director Rahayu added that 40 percent of students will be accepted at UGM through the independent admission test. This 40 percent includes those selected through the UM UGM CBT and those who pass the Talent Search for Outstanding Students (PBU) Pathway.
“We will accept 40 percent from the independent selection through UM UGM CBT and PBU,” she elaborated.
