Several UGM faculties offer free breakfast for students during the final exams.
These include the Faculty of Law, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Faculty of Geography, Faculty of Philosophy, Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, and the Faculty of Economics and Business.
UGM’s Vice Rector for Education and Teaching, Professor Wening Udasmoro, praised the initiative, which was organized by faculty leaders to support students during their final exams.
According to her, this program ensures students meet their nutritional needs and represents UGM’s efforts to improve students’ overall health.
“During exams, this can help facilitate students’ studies,” said Professor Udasmoro on Friday, Dec. 6, 2024.
At the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (Fisipol UGM), faculty leadership provided complete breakfasts along with a glass of milk to ensure students received adequate nutrition to enhance their exam performance.
“The free breakfast is available starting at 6:00 AM next to the SKKK Room and is usually gone before 8:00 AM,” said Ika Wulandari Widyanigrum, Coordinator for Academic and Student Affairs at Fisipol UGM.
She explained that the finals at Fisipol run from Dec. 2 to 13. During this period, students in a rush who have not had breakfast can enjoy a free meal every morning before entering the classroom.
“They only need to register their attendance and can freely choose from the menu available that day,” she said.
One Fisipol UGM student, Nadya, expressed her appreciation for the free breakfast and milk program, highlighting how helpful it has been amid her campus activities.
“I often skip breakfast because I’m busy preparing for exams. With the free breakfast program, I can start my exam day with enough energy,” she explained.
Amalia, a student from the Faculty of Geography, shared a similar sentiment, saying the program has been a great help.
“I often leave early for exams and don’t have time to eat. The free breakfast is very useful, especially since it’s available starting at 6:30 AM,” she said.
Professor Udasmoro stated that the free breakfast program aims to help students face exams in optimal physical and mental condition.
She hopes that more UGM faculties will continue expanding similar initiatives to support student well-being.
