Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) qualified 62 teams from the Student Creativity Program for the 36th National Student Scientific Week (PIMNAS) in 2023.
This number makes UGM the university with the most participants advancing to PIMNAS, which will occur at Padjajaran University from November 26 to 30, 2023.
According to the National Achievement Center of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology announcement, UGM is ranked first with 62 teams qualifying for PIMNAS.
In the top five, it is followed by IPB University with 46 teams, Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology with 35 teams, Hasanuddin University with 29 teams, Brawijaya University with 27 teams, and teams from various other universities in Indonesia.
“UGM appreciates the achievements made by our students in qualifying for PIMNAS. However, the journey is not over; we will continue to strive to bring home the PIMNAS champion to UGM,” said the Secretary of the UGM Directorate of Student Affairs, Dr. Hempri Suyatna, on Wednesday (November 8).
UGM successfully maintained the overall champion title at PIMNAS four consecutive times from 2018 to 2021. However, this achievement slipped in 2022 when UGM secured the Runner-Up Overall Champion position.
Dr. Suyatna mentioned that UGM is currently making maximum preparations within a short period. This is done by optimizing the role of supervising lecturers, advising lecturers, and faculties/schools.
Additionally, there is consolidation between supervising lecturers, and all student teams qualified for PIMNAS to immediately prepare presentations, scientific articles, final reports, and posters. Alongside this, there are PKM consultation stalls and a training center.
“The competition is tough, but with thorough preparation, hopefully, UGM can regain the overall champion title at PIMNAS this year,” he said.
Dr. Suyatna stated that in 2023, 282 titles from UGM qualified for program implementation funding.
This number also positioned UGM at the top as the university receiving the most PKM funding in Indonesia. After a series of selections, 62 UGM teams were selected to advance to PIMNAS 2023.
