Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) has once again recorded an outstanding achievement at the ASEAN level by earning the Five-Star Plus distinction, the highest rating in the AUN-HPN Healthy University Rating System (HURS) 2024. The Five-Star Plus recognition highlights UGM’s strong commitment to promoting a healthy lifestyle, ensuring a safe and inclusive campus environment, and fostering continuous innovation in campus public health.
The award was presented at the 10th AUN-HPN International Advisory Committee Meeting and the 4th International Health Promotion Conference: “Advancing Health Promotion in the ASEAN Region: Championing University Innovations for Equity and Resilience,” held in Manila, the Philippines, on November 26 to 29, 2025.
The award was received directly by the Vice-Rector for Education and Teaching, Professor Wening Udasmoro, on Thursday (Nov. 27).

Representing UGM, Professor Udasmoro expressed her gratitude for this achievement. UGM received the award following several assessment stages, including an on-site evaluation at the UGM.
“This recognition shows that UGM’s efforts and performance in Health Promoting University (HPU) initiatives are acknowledged internationally,” said Professor Udasmoro on Friday (Nov. 28).
Professor Udasmoro also extended her appreciation to the Head of UGM’s Task Force for the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence, who has consistently presented UGM’s ongoing actions.
These presentations, she noted, have significantly strengthened UGM as a Health Promoting University.
“With this achievement, UGM hopes to encourage healthy and responsible lifestyles to become the mindset of the entire UGM community, as well as Indonesian society at large,” she added.

Dr. Yayi Suryo Prabandari, Head of HPU UGM, explained that the Healthy University Rating System is a comprehensive evaluation of universities committed to establishing a healthy campus ecosystem.
UGM’s attainment of the Five-Star Plus rating reflects the university’s strong commitment to ensuring that its academic community, staff, employees, and broader campus society remain healthy, enjoy a good quality of life, and remain productive.
“HURS also serves as a reflection tool for UGM to further improve facilities and infrastructure that support students’ learning processes, as well as the work of lecturers, staff, and other employees, including the wider campus community,” she explained.
The Healthy Rating System, Dr. Prabandari continued, encourages health-related issues to become an integral part of the Tri-Dharma of Higher Education, thereby contributing to a healthier Indonesia. Through the implementation of the Health Promoting University, graduates are expected to be not only competent but also healthy and work-ready.
“Similarly, lecturers and education personnel can work productively, ultimately allowing them to enjoy their retirement in good health,” added Dr. Prabandari.
