The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy/Indonesian Agency for Tourism and Creative Economy orchestrated a comprehensive discussion on mapping training needs and village potentials for the 2024 Tourism Awareness Campaign (TAC). These engaging discussions unfolded across three tourist villages in Lombok.
The first discussion, on Mar. 8, 2024, unfolded in Buwun Sejati Tourist Village, West Lombok. The following day, Mar. 9, 2024, the dialogue shifted to Bonjeruk Tourist Village, Central Lombok. Finally, on Mar. 10, 2024, Mertak Tourist Village, Central Lombok, hosted the discussion.
Dr. Destha Titi Raharjana, a researcher at the UGM Center for Tourism Studies, graced these activities and was honored with an invitation to be a keynote speaker at the discussions. In his insightful address, he delved deeply into the objectives and intricacies of the Tourism Awareness Campaign.
Dr. Raharjana passionately outlined the crucial aspects for success, emphasizing the importance of village leadership commitment and institutional harmony in ensuring the triumph of the campaign program.
He urged participants to map tourist villages, covering seven pivotal aspects, including institutional dynamics, tourist influx, tour packages, homestays, SMEs, marketing strategies, and partnerships.
Additionally, he regaled the audience with inspiring success stories from participant villages of the 2023 Tourism Awareness Campaign.
“At the heart of success lies village leadership commitment and harmonious collaboration among institutions, ensuring the 2024 TAC program’s success by validating village data,” Dr. Raharjana on Friday (Mar. 15).
Dr. Raharjana stressed the importance of discerning training needs through a comprehensive training needs analysis, shedding light on the pivotal role of local champions in program execution.
He meticulously outlined the upcoming activities, marking the FGD stage as the campaign’s inception phase. Subsequent phases will unfold progressively, commencing with training sessions from April to May 2024 and mentoring sessions from May to July 2024.
The journey will culminate in a collaboration forum with tourist villages in August 2024, culminating in an evaluation of the 2024 Tourism Awareness Campaign’s implementation in August 2024.
