The Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Engineering (DTETI) at UGM’s Faculty of Engineering (FT UGM) visited several prominent universities and institutions in Australia from Sep. 9 to 12.
The visit aimed to expand global partnerships and create international exposure opportunities for International Undergraduate Program (IUP) students.
The universities visited included the University of New South Wales, the University of Technology of Sydney, Macquarie University, Monash University, and Deakin University.
Several lecturers, including Professor Hanung Adi Nugroho, Head of DTETI FT UGM, Dr. Guntur Dharma Putra, and Dr. Ali Awaludin, Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, and Collaboration at FT UGM, represented the DTETI FT UGM team.
Professor Nugroho stated that the visit aimed to explore potential collaboration opportunities with DTETI and provide international experiences for IUP students.
“During the visit, lecturers discussed academic collaboration and student exchanges, which are expected to enrich the international exposure of IUP students,” Professor Nugroho explained in a press statement on Thursday (Sep. 26).
In addition, Professor Nugroho noted that the DTETI UGM delegation also discussed the possibility of undergraduate double degree programs with partner universities.
The offered schemes are diverse, ranging from an undergraduate double degree with two years at UGM and two years at the partner university to a master’s and undergraduate double degree with three years at UGM for the bachelor’s degree and one year at the partner university for the master’s degree.
“With this scheme, students can earn degrees from both universities,” he said.
Professor Nugroho further explained that DTETI UGM is also exploring double degree opportunities for the Master of Information Engineering (MTI) and Master of Electrical Engineering (MTE) programs, as well as joint research at the doctoral level for the Doctoral Program in Electrical Engineering (DTE).
“For the master’s double degree program, discussions are still in the exploratory stage. However, for the doctoral program, there are more open opportunities for joint research with partner universities,” Professor Nugroho concluded.
