The celebration of the 77th anniversary of the UGM Faculty of Agriculture has officially begun.
With the theme “Strengthening the Commitment of the UGM Faculty of Agriculture in Producing Excellent Human Resources to Realize Smart Eco-Bioproduction,” the anniversary celebration series commenced with a ceremony on Friday (14/7).
The Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Dr. Jaka Widada, mentioned that the theme serves as a motivation for all members of the academic community at the faculty to continue playing their role in the three pillars of higher education (Tridharma).
All academic community members are expected to increase their contributions to the advancement of agriculture and the nation’s development.
“This year’s theme serves as a reminder to continuously commit and strive to produce excellent human resources, especially graduates of the Faculty of Agriculture, to realize smart eco-bioproduction,” he stated.
As a symbolic opening, the cultivation of Klanceng bees and the harvest of Klanceng honey were launched by the dean, accompanied by Dr. Suputa from the Department of Pests and Plant Diseases.
“The symbolic cultivation of Klanceng bees and its honey is an example of a simple effort to form excellent human resources,” said the dean.
The opening ceremony started with a morning exercise in the gazebo area of the Faculty of Agriculture, followed by a communal breakfast.
The 77th anniversary of the Faculty of Agriculture was enlivened by the presence of several deans from other faculties, including the Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, the Dean of the Faculty of Forestry, the Dean of the Faculty of Animal Sciences, and the Dean of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, and representatives from Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) as a partner in cooperation.
Additionally, Dean Jaka Widada inaugurated the Health Promoting University (HPU) at the Faculty of Agriculture and opened the Posbindu Faperta.
The event concluded with door prize distribution and joint prayer. The series of events for this year’s anniversary celebration will run until September 27, 2023.
Head of the Anniversary Committee, Dr. Ngadiman, added that the 77-year age of the UGM Faculty of Agriculture reflects its maturity in contributing to educating the nation amidst various dynamic conditions.
Moreover, this 77-year milestone signifies the faculty’s maturity in carrying out Tridharma.
“We hope that the entire series of the 77th-anniversary celebration will run smoothly,” the head expressed.
