The Yogyakarta Regional Board of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (BPD HIPMI DIY) visited the UGM Faculty of Animal Science (Animal Science UGM).
The visit, led by HIPMI DIY Chairperson Ekawati Rahayu Putri, was received by the Dean of Animal Science UGM, Professor Budi Guntoro, along with the faculty leadership.
Putri stated that HIPMI DIY’s visit aimed to explore potential collaboration opportunities between HIPMI DIY and Animal Science UGM.
According to her, HIPMI has an extensive business network, including in the livestock sector. One area of potential collaboration focuses on the development of livestock feed made from sorghum and corn.
HIPMI DIY also seeks to broaden its knowledge of business strategies in animal farming, particularly for sheep and cattle.
“We hope lecturers and students can be involved in programs and enterprises run by HIPMI,” said Putri on Monday (Apr. 14).
Professor Guntoro welcomed the opportunity to collaborate with HIPMI DIY. He noted that according to a tracer study, about 15 percent of Animal Science UGM graduates pursue careers as entrepreneurs.
“Others work as lecturers, researchers, or professionals in various sectors. We hope this collaboration will encourage more young entrepreneurs from HIPMI to engage in the livestock industry,” he explained.
Professor Guntoro also highlighted the increasing flexibility of the job market, particularly for university graduates.
He emphasized that many graduates now work in fields unrelated to their academic background and that this is not an issue.
“Graduates from any discipline must be ready to grow across various sectors. I believe HIPMI can be involved in academic programs such as the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) initiative, seminars, and other activities,” he concluded.
