The Faculty of Animal Science at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) welcomed a delegation from the Instituto Politécnico Betano (IPB) of Timor-Leste on Monday (Apr. 28) to explore potential academic cooperation.
The IPB delegation, led by Amancio Horacio, was received by the Vice Deans of the Faculty of Animal Science: Professor Yuny Erwanto (Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, and Collaboration), Ahmad Romadhoni Surya Putra, M.P. (Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs), and Andriyani Astuti, S.Pt, M.Sc., Ph.D. (Vice Dean for Finance, Assets, and Human Resources).
During the visit, Horacio shared that four IPB lecturers plan to pursue postgraduate studies at UGM in 2025, specifically in the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Animal Science. These prospective students are currently undergoing language training and preparing their visa applications in support of their future studies at UGM.
“For us, UGM is the top choice for further studies,” said Horacio.
Representing the Faculty, Professor Erwanto welcomed the initiative and expressed UGM’s readiness to deepen academic collaboration. He noted that the partnership could take the form of bilateral cooperation or even expand into a tripartite agreement with other institutions.
In addition to academic discussions, the meeting also opened opportunities for joint research and human resource development in the livestock sector.
Both parties expressed hope that the visit would serve as a stepping stone toward establishing a strategic, mutually beneficial partnership and further strengthening UGM’s international network.
