Alumni of Hiroshima University residing in Yogyakarta held a gathering at the Faculty of Animal Science, Universitas Gadjah Mada (Animal Science UGM). The event brought together alumni from various universities and institutions in Yogyakarta to engage in direct discussions with Professor Teruo Maeda, representing Hiroshima University.
Dr. Andriyani Astuti, Vice-Dean for Finance, Assets, and Human Resources at Animal Science UGM and also an alumna of Hiroshima University, explained that most participants in the gathering were young lecturers and master’s students of Animal Science UGM who are planning to pursue doctoral studies in Japan.
“This gathering serves not only as a reunion for Hiroshima University alumni but also as an opportunity to share information on further study opportunities and the latest research collaborations in Japan,” she said at the faculty on Tuesday (Aug. 26).
Professor Maeda expressed his delight and gratitude for the chance to meet Hiroshima University alumni in Yogyakarta.
He also expressed his happiness that Hiroshima University has welcomed many graduate students from Indonesia, with a number of them now making significant contributions in various fields, both in the government and the private sector.
He further expressed his hope that similar gatherings can be held regularly.
In addition to strengthening the Hiroshima University alumni network in Indonesia, such events also create wider opportunities for research and education among young academics.
“Alumni can gain valuable information through these gatherings, including scholarship programs offered by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), such as the Postdoctoral Fellowship and Research Collaboration Program,” he explained.
