Professor Hary Sulistyo, a UGM Faculty of Engineering (FT UGM) professor, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2024, at 5:23 PM WIB at Sardjito Hospital.
The late professor was buried after a farewell ceremony held at the Balairung Courtyard, UGM Central Office, on Friday, Aug. 2, 2024, at 2:00 PM WIB.
The Dean of FT UGM, Professor Selo, conveyed his deep condolences on behalf of the entire faculty.
“He was a father, teacher, and role model for us younger members,” Professor Selo said in his remarks.
The late Professor Sulistyo, who was with FT UGM for 43 years, was known for his firmness, straightforwardness in many matters, and steadfastness in his principles.
“We will certainly emulate the positive aspects of the late Pak Sulistyo and continue to uphold and advocate for them in the Faculty of Engineering,” he added.
The UGM Professors’ Council Chair, Professor Baiquni, also expressed sadness over the professor’s passing.
“We truly lost an extraordinary individual. His role and contributions in advancing knowledge and developing Universitas Gadjah Mada were remarkable,” Professor Baiquni said.
He also noted that the late professor consistently contributed critical and constructive ideas since joining the Professors’ Council in 2021.
Professor Baiquni invited the mourners to pray for the late professor and to draw lessons and inspiration from his life’s work.
“May all his scholarly endeavors and works, God willing, pave the way for future advancements in knowledge,” Professor Baiquni said.
