Gadjah Mada Flying Object Research Center (Gamaforce) team, comprising 120 students, will participate in the Indonesian Flying Robot Contest (KRTI) held at Lanud Gading, Gunung Kidul, Yogyakarta from Sept. 12-19, 2024.
Gamaforce will compete in several categories, including Fixed-Wing, Racing Plane, Vertical Take-off Landing, Technology Development, and Long Endurance Low Altitude (LELA).
Additionally, Gamaforce will send seven students to compete in the Technofest Turkey in the Fighter UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) Competition in Adana, Turkey, from Sept. 12-18, 2024.
Since January 2024, Gamaforce has been working on research, development, and funding to prepare for these two competitions.
The team has launched six new vehicles, including a Fixed-wing UAV named Ashwincarra, specifically prepared for the Technofest Turkey competition.
“We aim to retain the overall champion title in the Indonesian Flying Robot Contest and win the Fighter UAV Competition at Technofest Turkey. Therefore, we ask for support, motivation, and blessings to achieve this successfully,” said Dimas Gilar Pratama Putra, the head of Gamaforce, during his speech at the Balairung on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2024.
Since its establishment in 2015, Gamaforce has won the overall champion title seven times at KRTI and secured third place at the Technofest Turkey contest last year.
The team aims to defend its overall champion title for the eighth time at KRTI and win first place at Technofest Turkey.
“We hope Gamaforce can inspire the advancement of aerospace technology in Indonesia,” said Professor Sugeng Sapto Surjono, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at UGM.
During the event, Gamaforce held a joint prayer and ribbon-cutting ceremony as a symbolic gesture, marking the team’s official launch for national and international competitions.
In addition to university support, Gamaforce is also backed by external partners such as Kagama, BTN, BNI, BRI, Access by KAI, Frogs Indonesia, Plaza Ambarukmo, PT Angkasa Pura II, PT Penjaminan Infrastruktur Indonesia, and many more.
Dr. Hempri Suyatna, Secretary of the UGM Directorate of Student Affairs, Dr. Ari Dwipayana, Secretary-General of Kagama, and several representatives from partner organizations attended the team’s send-off for the national and international competitions.
