
Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) once again graduated 1,408 students from its Bachelor’s and Applied Bachelor’s Programs for the Third Period of the 2024/2025 Academic Year.
The ceremony took place at Grha Sabha Pramana on Wednesday (May 28). The graduates comprised 1,291 Bachelor’s degree holders and 117 Applied Bachelor’s degree holders.
The Rector of UGM, Professor Ova Emilia, extended her congratulations to the graduates, who were officially inducted into the extensive Alumni Family of UGM (Kagama).
Through Kagama, the rector stated, the new graduates are expected to foster collaborative networks and contribute to the tri-dharma activities alongside their beloved alma mater.
“Continue to enhance your skills and competencies, because the knowledge and abilities you possess will bring distinct meaning to academic development that sustainably impacts the social life of the community,” Professor Emilia said.
On that occasion, Professor Emilia highlighted that the new paradigm of higher education today focuses on preparing excellent human resources and developing research to generate impactful innovations for progress.
Various research and innovation outcomes are expected to open up collaboration opportunities with industries, fostering national self-reliance, creating employment, and boosting the growth of the creative industry.
She strongly believes that through its Bachelor’s and Applied Bachelor’s programs, UGM consistently prepares excellent human resources ready to enter the workforce with comprehensive knowledge and skills.
“I am very confident that UGM graduates possess superior competencies, independent character, critical thinking skills, and social responsibility,” she explained.
Professor Emilia advised the graduates to maintain a leadership spirit and drive, enabling them to contribute as agents of change, new paradigms, and innovations by optimizing their potential within their chosen professions.
The Director-General of Population and Civil Registration, Dr. Teguh Setyabudi, representing the Central Board of Kagama, extended his congratulations to the graduates.
He stated that achieving a degree from Universitas Gadjah Mada signifies a recognition of the attained competencies.
“Accompanying that degree, you now undoubtedly bear a higher level of responsibility than before, in contributing to society, the nation, and the state,” Dr. Setyabudi said.
Dr. Setyabudi emphasized that Kagama, as an alumni organization, has proven itself and continues to foster shared hopes within the bond of fellowship among alumni.
According to him, there are numerous benefits to joining Kagama, including expanding professional interests, broadening the scope of work and business influence and impact, and consistently striving to uphold the good name of Universitas Gadjah Mada.
“As a form of gratitude to Universitas Gadjah Mada, we are at least always expected to be able to maintain the good name and reputation of UGM. By becoming Bachelor’s and Applied Bachelor’s graduates from here, hopefully, the reputation and competence we gain from Universitas Gadjah Mada can always be preserved and enhanced,” he stated.
Faiza Salsabila, a graduate of the Faculty of Agriculture, expressed her gratitude to the lecturers and staff of Universitas Gadjah Mada who guided her in achieving her Bachelor’s degree.
She recounted how her university journey began during the pandemic, with most lectures conducted online.
“This experience is part of a classic tale in campus life,” she recalled.
After the pandemic period, Salsabila said, she and her fellow students began to build and share stories by learning and interacting with one another.
She experienced various anecdotes during her studies, both in class and in the field.
“I am truly grateful to be in an environment that not only provides space for questions. Congratulations on our graduation today. May our future steps not only benefit ourselves but also uplift those around us,” Salsabila elaborated.
For this graduation period, the average study duration for Bachelor’s Program graduates is 4 years.
The fastest study period was achieved by Yunita Nur Azizah from the Agricultural Engineering Program, Faculty of Agricultural Technology, who graduated in 3 years, 2 months, and 6 days.
The average age of Bachelor’s Program graduates is 22 years, 6 months, and 15 days, with the youngest graduate being Mutiara Anindyana Hapsari from the Faculty of Pharmacy, who graduated at the age of 19 years, 1 month, and 9 days.
The average Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) for Bachelor’s Program graduates in this period is 3.60. Graduates with “Cum Laude” honors total 915 (70.88 percent), “Very Satisfactory” total 342 (26.49 percent), “Satisfactory” total 19 (1.47 percent), and those graduating without honors total 15 (1.16 percent).
The highest GPA for the Bachelor’s Program this period was achieved by Zabrina Kyla, Inzan Ilmi Kazamzam, and Claire Emmanuela.
All three are from the Medicine Program, Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing, each with a perfect GPA of 4.00 and “Cum Laude” honors.
Meanwhile, for Applied Bachelor’s Program graduates in this period, the average study duration is 4 years and 4 months.
The shortest study period was achieved by Adinda Dwi Humaira from the Geographical Information Systems Program, Vocational College, who completed her studies in 3 years, 6 months, and 28 days.
The average age of Applied Bachelor’s Program graduates is 23 years, 6 months, and 14 days, with the youngest graduate for this period being Nova Astrid Sakina from the Banking Program, Vocational College, who completed her Applied Bachelor’s studies at the age of 20 years, 8 months, and 2 days.
The average Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) for Applied Bachelor’s Program graduates in this period is 3.56. Graduates with “Cum Laude” honors total 30 (25.64 percent), and “Very Satisfactory” total 87 (74.36 percent).
The highest GPA for the Applied Bachelor’s Program during this period was achieved by Hendarto Kurniawan from the Software Engineering Technology Program at the Vocational College, with a GPA of 3.98 and “Very Satisfactory” honors.
