UGM, International Food Policy Research/HarvestPlus, and Rahmat Indonesia Foundation collaborate in education, research, and community service.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by the Rector of UGM, Professor Ova Emilia, MD, Chief Executive Officer of IFRI/HarvestPlus, Arun Baral, and Chair of Rahmat Indonesia, Dr. Rahmat Shah, on Monday (August 21).
The UGM Rector thanked the partners for their trust in collaborating with UGM. This moment is essential for all parties as it expands the cooperation network.
“UGM opens collaborations with various universities and partners. It is hoped that with an expanding cooperation network, we can together produce more outputs to address national and global issues,” she stated.
The Chair of Rahmat Indonesia conveyed a similar hope. The signing of this collaboration is expected to be a good start in developing community service and social activities, humanitarian efforts, and more.
“Hopefully, future collaborations can run well and benefit the community and the nation,” he said.
The Chief Executive Officer of IFRI/HarvestPlus expressed gratitude for the opportunity to collaborate with UGM. UGM is considered the No. 1 campus in Indonesia.
“Through this collaboration, it is hoped that the quality of human life can be improved,” he mentioned.
Arun Baral explained that HarvestPlus continues to work towards improving nutrition and public health through the development of biofortified food crops. These efforts are expected to help address malnutrition and childhood stunting issues in the community.
“The issues of malnutrition and stunting not only impact individuals but also the sustainability of the future. Hopefully, Indonesia can address these issues more quickly with good agricultural development as a solid foundation. It is hoped that through this collaboration, we can mutually support each other to achieve this goal,” he elaborated.
