Inovokasia returns after being held in April 2024. For its second event this year, Inovokasia aims to attract more than 3,000 participants to join a series of job fairs and innovation product exhibitions.
This event was held over two days, 11–12 Sep. 2024, at the UGM Innovation and Creativity Hub (GIK UGM).
During the opening of Inovokasia on Wednesday (Sep. 11), Professor Agus Maryono, the Dean of the UGM Vocational College (SV UGM), said that the event aims to sustain the strengthening of the vocational partnership ecosystem in Yogyakarta.
He mentioned that one of the key events in this year’s Inovokasia is the Vocational Career Days held at GIK UGM’s Student Center. This job fair includes 34 national and multinational partner companies, such as QMB, Samator, Wilmar, KPP Mining, Kalbe, Metland, Geotekindo, Dayasa Paper, Epson, and Maybank.
This job fair is a valuable opportunity for students and the general public to familiarize themselves with the industrial world.
“Inovokasia is essential in building a bridge of cooperation between the industry and vocational education,” said Professor Maryono.
In his report, Dr. Wiryanta, Chair of the Inovokasia committee, highlighted the collaboration between three vocational schools in Yogyakarta: UGM’s Vocational College (SV), the Faculty of Vocational Studies (FV) at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY), and the Yogyakarta State Academy of Arts and Culture. The collaboration was also supported by the Directorate General of Vocational Education at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology.
The UGM Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Community Service, and Alumni, Dr. Arie Sujito, stated that GIK UGM should be utilized maximally as a student learning arena and benefit the general public.
He also admired UGM Vocational College students who contributed significantly to the university.
“Vocational students don’t just rely on intelligence; they are also creative, enabling them to produce creative works,” he remarked.
Director of Partnerships and Industry Alignment at the Directorate General of Vocational Education, Adi Nuryanto, also attended the event to open Inovokasia and urged industry partners to continue to play an active role and be part of vocational education in Indonesia.
“A rise in available job opportunities must accompany the increasing number of vocational students in Indonesia,” he emphasized.
Inovokasia 2024 serves as a meeting platform between students and the industrial world.
In addition to the job fair, the event encourages collaboration between education and industry by hosting several activities, such as a media boot camp, a creative innovation exhibition, and a public dialogue.
