Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) once again hosted the National Forum of the Quality Assurance Network for Legal Entity State Universities (PTN-BH) on Thursday, Aug. 7, 2025, bringing together heads of university quality assurance and reputation units from PTN-BH institutions across Indonesia.
UGM Vice-Rector for Education and Teaching, Professor Wening Udasmoro, stated that PTN-BH currently serves as the backbone of Indonesia’s higher education reputation on the global stage.
However, PTN-BH faces challenges and dynamics related to regulations that continue to change over time.
“Rapid regulatory changes demand that PTN-BH adapt swiftly to maintain the quality of education and its global reputation,” said Vice-Rector Udasmoro.
Head of the UGM’s Quality Assurance and Reputation Unit (SPMRU), Professor Indra Wijaya Kusuma, explained that this meeting was specifically convened to formulate quality assurance standards and criteria in line with the new regulations, while also providing strategic input on national accreditation policies.
“At present, many study programs have had their accreditation transferred to LAM, yet the transition process from the Indonesian National Accreditation Agency (BAN-PT) often does not run smoothly. This creates confusion in various institutions and requires prompt, precise measures to ensure quality remains intact,” he emphasized.
Professor Kusuma added that the forum is expected to serve as a platform for collaboration among PTN-BH in responding to the evolving accreditation system and ensuring the sustainable quality of higher education.
The outcomes of the discussion will be formulated into joint recommendations to be submitted to the relevant authorities, to keep national higher education standards competitive and adaptive.
