Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are crucial pillars supporting the economy at both local and national levels. They not only provide employment opportunities but also drive innovation and economic growth.
UGM KKN-PPM students conducted marketing skills training and mentoring for MSME actors in Nitikan Village, Magetan Regency, Central Java, to support the development of MSME competencies.
Rosita Eka Amelia, a KKN-PPM student from the Faculty of Biology, stated on Tuesday (Jul. 30) that the implementation of this MSME development training is expected to help MSME actors advance and grow.
“Through effective socialization, MSME actors can obtain the necessary information and knowledge to improve product quality, operational efficiency, and market access,” said Amelia.
The MSME development introduction organized by UGM KKN-PPM students was divided into three main topics: business seminars, digital marketing and branding, and counseling on occupational health and safety (K3) for MSME actors.
The first topic, business seminars, explained the important aspects that MSME actors need to consider when running their businesses, including budget planning and empathy maps for customer needs assessment.
This was followed by the second topic on digital marketing and branding, where UGM KKN-PPM students explained modern marketing methods to MSME actors and how to optimize their use.
“We also provided explanations and guidance on occupational health and safety for MSME actors in running their businesses. Attendees received K3 posters to display in their workplaces as reminders,” Amelia elaborated.
Siti Jumirah, one of the MSME actors present, said that the MSME development training organized by UGM KKN-PPM students helped her with the information presented and motivated her to advance her business by keeping up with current developments.
“Even though I am not tech-savvy, I believe that we all must keep up with the times to stay competitive with other entrepreneurs,” she said.
