The Korean Language and Culture Program at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FIB UGM), has again achieved a prestigious accomplishment at the K-Speech World Contest 2025. Continuing the positive trend from the previous year, the UGM delegation secured first prize at the event held in Vietnam on Thursday, Aug. 14, 2025.
This year marked the first time the competition included a large group category.
In the prior year, the UGM representative had earned the top award in the individual category granted by the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
UGM’s team was selected to represent Indonesia after winning the national qualifiers.
Difta Maulifa Sakinah, team leader of the student participants, stated that this year the team delivered an oration titled “Love for Oration, Pride in the University.”
Although she was not able to attend in person in Vietnam, she and her teammates remain proud of their achievement.
“We feel honored to participate and introduce Universitas Gadjah Mada through this speech competition, especially at the international level,” she said on Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2025.
Alfiana Amrin Rosyadi, the supervising lecturer for the 25-member student team, expressed gratitude on behalf of herself and the UGM Korean Language and Culture Program for this accomplishment.
She hopes that this achievement will become a meaningful experience that can be sustained in the future.
“This is certainly a valuable experience for the students, and one that we trust will serve them well in the future,” she concluded.
