The Education Fund Management Institution (LPDP) scholarship for 2023 is again being held to provide educational opportunities for Indonesian students.
This year, the 209th batch, known as Asa Gaharu, accommodates 304 students to study in 11 destination countries. The departure preparations were held for a week, from July 30 to August 5, 2023.
LPDP was established on December 28, 2011, as a work unit under the Indonesian Ministry of Finance. This program is primarily aimed at realizing the allocation of education funds within the priority of the state budget.
The LPDP scholarship consists of domestic and overseas funding through thesis and dissertation scholarships, affirmative action, and medical specialty education at home and abroad.
Interestingly, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) has become the number one favorite destination for recipients of domestic LPDP scholarships. This year, UGM has 85 scholarship recipients out of 304.
This number is undoubtedly one of the indicators of UGM’s success in realizing its vision as a world-class, excellent, and innovative national university dedicated to the interests of the nation and humanity, driven by the values of the nation’s culture based on Pancasila.
UGM is committed to providing equal education opportunities to all students in Indonesia. Various options and conveniences have been opened for everyone to pursue their education at UGM.
“UGM remains the favorite destination for LPDP scholarship recipients, surpassing the Ministry of Education and Culture’s BPI (Indonesian Education Scholarship) scheme, which mostly sends students to the UK,” said the Director of Partnerships and Global Relations, Professor Puji Astuti.
Asa Gaharu is planned to depart in August and January 2024. Interestingly, the name “Asa Gaharu” signifies the spirit of the 209th batch towards technological development, emphasizing environmental issues and ensuring the sustainability of future generations.
Through the LPDP scholarship, Indonesian students are expected to utilize this golden opportunity to dedicate their time and hard work to pursue further education domestically and internationally.
The results of this learning will undoubtedly serve as the foundation for this generation to contribute to the country and compete in the future.
