Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) has opened admissions for new postgraduate students for the Odd Semester of the 2023/2024 academic year.
Some changes have been made to the admission process during this period to provide more opportunities for prospective postgraduate students. This information was conveyed in the #UGMUpdate series on Thursday (October 12).
Unlike previous intakes, the admission process will be conducted in four waves from September to December 2023.
“Why the adjustment? We want to provide a broader opportunity for those who will join UGM while waiting, for example, for scholarship providers. Thus, we offer four admission waves,” said Dr. Sigit Priyanta, Secretary of the UGM Directorate of Education and Teaching.
The first period was opened on September 26, and registration will continue in four waves until January 2, 2024.
“UGM generally has two main admission pathways: the regular pathway and the research (by research) pathway. For example, there is a self-financed option in the regular pathway,” said Dr. Priyanta.
“Then there is a cooperation pathway intended for students who have already obtained scholarships from their institutions or UGM partners. Most applicants apply to UGM and for scholarships at the same time.”
UGM provides flexibility for students still securing scholarships, allowing them to postpone registration after being accepted while waiting for scholarship confirmation.
Providing flexibility for postgraduate students is seen as an effort to provide opportunities and solutions for prospective students. Unlike undergraduates, most postgraduate students already have activities outside their education, such as work, research, business, etc.
This often makes it difficult for students to balance their time between studying and other activities. This solution is intended to ensure students’ optimal performance in both.
“You can access the list of open programs directly on um.ugm.ac.id. Click on postgraduate, then on study program, and you’ll see a list of programs open for up to four waves,” said Dr. Priyanta.
“The fee list is already provided, and there are contact details for further questions. Most are indeed open for four waves, but some, like pharmacy and law, are not.”
