On the occasion of Universitas Gadjah Mada’s (UGM) 74th anniversary on Dec. 19, 2023, a cafe nestled in the heart of the UGM campus area witnessed its soft launch.
Located precisely on Colombo Street, Yogyakarta, the inauguration marked the symbolic handover of support for the MSME Corner’s development from Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI).
Fendi Maulana, the Regional Funding and Retail Transaction Banking Head of the BRI Regional Office, along with Lutfi Anggriawan, Branch Manager of BRI Cik Di Tiro, ceremoniously presented the support to the Rector of UGM, Professor Ova Emilia.
The event, graced by the Commissioner of PT Bank BRI (Persero) Tbk Professor Paripurna, deans, directors, and heads of work units at UGM, celebrated the collaborative spirit fostering entrepreneurship and innovation.
Professor Paripurna underscored BRI’s commitment as a strategic partner of UGM, affirming its dedication to supporting the establishment of the cafe.
“The presence of this cafe exemplifies BRI’s commitment to collaborative endeavors to educate the nation. It signifies our support for utilizing the UGM campus area for entrepreneurial education and fostering the development of innovative works by the nation’s youth,” he declared.
Rector Ova Emilia expressed the university’s reputation for generating impactful innovations disseminated to benefit the industry and society. UGM, she articulated, continuously seeks collaborative opportunities with strategic partners to create synergistic partnerships, enhancing competitiveness and global prowess.
“The cafe, borne out of a collaboration between UGM, BRI, and Parsley, aptly named ‘Pinarak Chotea and Eatery,’ aims to cater to the flexible learning and working needs of the academic community,” she explained.
“This cafe serves as an alternative space for cultivating and enriching the learning and working culture, offering facilities distinct from conventional study spaces or offices. Its design is envisioned to provide comfort, inspiring the realization of high-quality, innovative works.”
In alignment with UGM’s commitment to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the cafe’s design reflects smart efficiency.
With a focus on energy conservation, optimal natural lighting, and enhanced air circulation, the cafe is a testament to UGM’s dedication to creating sustainable and inspiring spaces within its vibrant campus environment.
