UGM Faculty of Philosophy has commenced the School for Seniors initiative, which was aimed to be held in Bantul, Yogyakarta, by organizing a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on Saturday (3/6).
The percentage of older adults in Bantul Regency in 2020 reached 12.1 percent of the population of nearly 1 million. Further actions toward this figure must be taken to help realize a healthier, happier, and more productive life for them, according to the Head of Philosophy Community Service, Dr. Supartiningsih.
She added that the School for Seniors aimed to drive enthusiasm and joy for older adults. The FGD is part of the overall activities, featuring the Training of Trainers, activity guidebook drafting, school opening, school activities, school graduation, and program evaluation.
“The pleasing cooperation between UGM and Imogiri’s Innovation Team, village officials, and health cadres is expected to extend the lifespan and increase their happiness,” Supartiningsih said in a release on Wednesday (7/6).
The village government, cadres, Imogiri I Bantul Health Center, and the health center’s innovation team welcomed the idea of School for Seniors.
“Hopefully, in the future, after this School for Seniors initiative, we can build a Park for Seniors for them to gather and chitchat happily,” said the Head of the Innovation Team of Imogiri I Bantul Health Center, Prasasti Bintarum.
Philosophy Community Service Team consists of Dr. Supartiningsih, Dr. Septiana Dwiputri Maharani, Dr. Lailiy Muthmainnah, and Dr. Sartini.
