For the first time, the Faculty of Psychology at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) held a free health check-up for teaching staff, non-teaching staff, and outsourced workers in collaboration with Gadjah Mada Medical Center (GMC) on Friday (Mar. 22).
The check-up aims to raise awareness about the importance of regular health monitoring. The health check-up provided included physical examinations as well as blood tests to measure blood sugar levels, uric acid, and cholesterol.
Dr. Sumaryono, a psychologist and Vice Dean for Finance, Assets, and Human Resources at the Faculty of Psychology, stated that this activity is an effort to improve the quality of life and ensure the health of its members.
“At the very least, by conducting this, each of us can receive some kind of warning or alarm about what needs to be managed, what needs to be anticipated in our respective health,” he said.
“This is the first time, and hopefully there will be cadres from the faculty to help with the examination process. This time, it might still be limited to non-teaching staff, teaching staff, and outsourced workers. If possible, later on, it could be expanded to include anyone,” he added.
The inaugural event was met with high enthusiasm from participants, despite the limited quota. Participants appreciated the health services provided and welcomed this initiative.
“I am happy with the program. Hopefully, in the future, the program can be held regularly, at least once a month or every two months. I am also happy because the results of the check-up were good,” said Ekky, one of the participants.
Ari expressed a similar sentiment, “Hopefully, in the future, the program can continue at least every six months or every three months.”
The check-up at the Faculty of Psychology is expected to be one of the concrete efforts in promoting a healthy lifestyle and improving the quality of life for all members of the university community.
