The Ambassador of Türkiye to Indonesia, Professor Talip Küçükcan, paid a courtesy visit to Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) to discuss various cooperation agreements in the field of academic exchange between UGM and universities in Türkiye.
The ambassador stated that his visit aimed to strengthen institutional ties between the two parties.
Among the proposals discussed was the establishment of a Turkish Corner to encourage UGM academics and students to develop an interest in Turkish studies.
In addition, he expressed the need to form a working group to facilitate university visits to Türkiye and foster stronger academic interaction.
“We are very much aligned with universities in Europe and will serve as a bridge between many European universities. I believe this is a good opportunity for us to explore further and perhaps rediscover the importance of Southeast Asia. Diplomatically, this will also be an asset,” said Professor Küçükcan on Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2025, at the UGM Central Office.

Professor Küçükcan also highlighted several potential areas of collaboration to strengthen relations between Turkish universities and UGM, including education, research, and joint publications.
Meanwhile, the UGM Secretary, Dr. Andi Sandi Antonius Tabusassa Tonralipu, expressed his appreciation for the ambassador’s visit, which is expected to broaden the scope of cooperation between UGM and various universities in Türkiye.
“We are very pleased to have the opportunity to meet with you. We hope your visit will also expand our university’s access to universities in Türkiye,” he said.
