Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) proudly stood among the elite 15 public institutions, achieving the highest national scores and earning the prestigious top-five national public institutions award in transparency from the Central Information Commission (KIP).
The event unfolded on Dec. 19 at the Vice President’s Palace, where the acknowledgment was officially conferred.
To solidify the assessment stages further and unveil the process of selecting the nation’s best public institutions, KIP Commissioner Syawaludin and the team visited the UGM campus.
Their agenda involved scrutinizing documents and inspecting the Public Information and Documentation Officer (PPID) service room at the UGM’s central office and faculties.
In this momentous activity, the KIP visitation team was warmly received by UGM’s distinguished leadership—Rector Professor Ova Emilia, Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Community Service, and Alumni Dr. Arie Sujito, and Secretary of UGM Dr. Andi Sandi.
Expressing his admiration, KIP Commissioner Syawaludin commended UGM for its unwavering commitment to becoming an informative hub in Indonesia.
He highlighted the significance of the informative campus initiative, a pivotal program spearheaded by KIP to foster public information transparency within university ecosystems.
“We will scrutinize the organizational commitment from the PPID team, assess the quality of information about public information, and carefully evaluate excluded public information,” Syawaludin affirmed.
The journey undertaken by KIP in executing the Public Information Openness Law, as stated by Syawaludin, necessitates collaboration with academics for studies and strategic programs. He emphasized the need for a symbiotic relationship between KIP and the campus to shape the future of information sharing.
“We seek support from academics not only in studies and strategic programs but also in fostering collaborative synergy between KIP and UGM to build information in the future,” he elaborated.
Syawaludin underscored that KIP strives to inspire hundreds of universities to transform into informative public institutions. Of 149 state universities (PTN), only 49 actively participated in public testing, with 34 earning the esteemed informative designation.
“We aspire to propel informative public bodies forward. Among the 149 PTNs under the Ministry of Education and Culture, only 49 engaged in public testing, and 34 PTNs secured the informative categorization. We envision UGM, hand in hand with KIP, to serve as a benchmark influencing other PTNs,” he fervently conveyed.
Dr. Arie Sujito warmly embraced the KIP team during their visit. He emphasized that the team’s presence wasn’t solely for competitive evaluations but also an opportunity to synchronize administrative matters related to public information management on campus—an endeavor fueled by a quest for knowledge and continuous improvement.
“Public information openness is a reform mandate. We aim to propel this ethos of public information openness to enhance institutional credibility,” the vice-rector concluded.
