The Rector of UGM, Professor Ova Emilia, MD, has once again been honored as the most popular leader on social media. This recognition was announced during the 9th Jamboree of Public Relations Indonesia (JAMPIRO) in 2023.
This acknowledgment came after PR Indonesia, in collaboration with Ivosights, monitored coverage on three social media platforms involving dozens of ministries, agencies, local governments, state-owned enterprises, regional-owned enterprises, and higher education institutions.
“The monitoring took place on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram from January 1 to August 31, 2023. In addition to employing real-time quantitative methods, the assessment was conducted qualitatively,” stated PR Indonesia’s Founder and CEO, Asmono Wikan, on Friday (October 27).
The UGM Public Relations Coordinator, Dr. Dina W Kariodimedjo, accepted the award for the rector.
In addition to the rector, the UGM Media Coverage Coordinator, Satria Ardhi Nugraha, was honored as the Gold Winner in the PR Person category.
Satria Nugraha led the UGM Public Relations team in managing coverage, media relations, and internal and social media.
Secretary of UGM, Dr. Andi Sandi, stated that this achievement was the result of the hard work of the entire UGM community. He hoped that such accomplishments would motivate UGM to continue striving for excellence.
“Do not become complacent, but continue nurturing the spirit to produce even better work,” expressed Dr. Sandi.
The university’s secretary emphasized the importance of PR work, which includes coverage and media relations.
He highlighted that UGM could only advance and excel with the support of journalists because their writings would communicate various achievements to the public.
“The relationship between UGM and journalists, especially the Gadjah Mada Journalists Forum (Fortakgama), has been established for a long time and will continue to be strengthened,” he affirmed.
The 9th JAMPIRO also included a workshop themed “Leadership Communication: Amplifying Impact through Effective Communication.”
It was divided into two workshop classes: the Strategic PR Workshop “Crafting Brand Narratives for Impactful Influence” and the Interpersonal Skill and Public Speaking Workshop “Speak, Connect, and Lead: Navigating Public Speaking, Interpersonal Skills, and Creative Leadership,” featuring communication experts and national-level PR practitioners.
