Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) participated in the High-Level Forum on Multi-Stakeholder Partnership (HLF MSP) Indonesia 2024 exhibition.
This session, themed “Strengthening Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships: Towards a Transformative Change,” was held in Nusa Dua, Bali, on Sep. 2-3, 2024.
HLF MSP Indonesia 2024 serves as a platform to address various global crises that have widened the development gap between countries in the Global South and North and hindered the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
During this event, UGM was represented by the Directorate of Education and Teaching (DPP UGM) in collaboration with the Directorate of Partnerships and Global Relations (DKRG UGM), opening an exhibition booth for the International Development Cooperation Fund Agency (LDKPI) of the Ministry of Finance as a strategic partner for the Indonesian Aid Scholarship (TIAS) program.
UGM Director of Education and Teaching, Professor Gandes Retno Rahayu, stated that the HLF MSP Indonesia 2024 exhibition is a strategic opportunity to promote both undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs to increase the number of international students at UGM.
“UGM’s participation in HLF MSP Indonesia also reinforces our commitment to developing global partnerships and new initiatives to contribute to accelerating the SDGs and supporting the realization of Indonesia’s Golden Vision 2045 through partnerships,” Professor Rahayu explained in a statement to the press on Tuesday (Sep. 17).
Professor Rahayu noted that the HLF MSP serves as a strategic platform that brings together stakeholders, including representatives from government, international organizations, philanthropy, non-governmental organizations, multilateral banks, the academic community, the private sector, and civil society.
Through the TIAS program, UGM received two international undergraduate students and nine international master’s students in 2024 across various programs.
The TIAS program covered Bachelor’s in Communication Science, Master’s in International Relations, Master’s in Law, Master’s in Industrial Engineering, Master’s in Geomatic Engineering, Master’s in Physics Engineering, and Master’s in Urban and Regional Planning.
During the two-day exhibition held at the Bali International Convention Centre, many HLF MSP conference participants from various institutions visited the UGM booth, which represented a delegation from several national and international organizations.
Some organizations included the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), lpe.world, Wahana Indonesia-World Vision Australia, the Non-Aligned Movement Centre for South-South Technical Cooperation, the Embassy of Ivory Coast in Japan, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), and UN Global Asia Pacific and FAO ECTAD.
Sari Wulandari, the UGM booth attendant, reported that visitors enthusiastically inquired about the registration process for postgraduate programs, the differences between regular pathways, partnerships, research in postgraduate studies, and the requirements for each path.
“Many visitors were also looking for information about UGM’s undergraduate programs as initial information for their children’s preparations for next year’s admissions,” she stated.
Wulandari added that several UGM alumni attending the conference appreciated UGM’s role as a strategic partner for TIAS and its participation in international forums for active partnerships in accelerating global sustainable development.
One of the conference participants, Aminudin Mat Ariff, the lead technical cooperation specialist at IsDB, expressed hope for opportunities for cooperation related to initiatives for IsDB staff to continue their education at UGM.
Similarly, Danang Waskito, an alumnus of UGM’s Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (Fisipol UGM), who currently serves as Inspector of Region II at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, expressed his pride in UGM’s participation in the education exhibition at this conference.
“I am proud that UGM is involved in HLF MSP Indonesia 2024,” he concluded.
