UGM KKN PPM students from the Dengkek Subunit of Jejakenan organized National Children’s Day 2024 at SDN Dengkek 01, Pati, Central Java.
The event took place over three days: July 23, 24, and 27, and was attended by hundreds of students, teachers, and parents. The program included painting, drawing, decorating piggy banks, and eco-printing, designed to appreciate Indonesian children and provide them with educational and creative experiences.
Muhamad Farhan, Coordinator of the UGM KKN PPM Jejakenan Unit, stated that the activities resulted from discussions with the school principal and teachers.
“The school appreciates the KKN PPM team’s initiative and contribution in commemorating National Children’s Day with interactive activities that develop students’ creativity and knowledge,” Farhan said in a statement to the press on Tuesday (Aug. 6).
The first day began with an opening ceremony featuring healthy exercise and simple games. The UGM KKN-PPM team also organized various engaging activities, including collage classes for Grade 1, statue painting for Grade 2, and piggy bank decoration with savings education for Grade 3.
On subsequent days, Grade 4 students participated in eco-printing, Grade 5 students participated in beadwork, and Grade 6 students participated in Junior Galaxy classes. The students were enthusiastic about these activities, demonstrating their excitement and involvement throughout the event.
The second day featured the “Healthy Screen Time” promotion for Grades 1–3, while the third day included Study Gardening for Grade 4, Golden Generation Ethics education for Grades 5 and 6, and clean and healthy living promotion for all students.
Farhan noted that a cheerful and communal atmosphere enveloped each classroom at SDN Dengkek 01 as students competed to create their best work. He hopes the activities will benefit the students by helping them explore their potential and stimulate their imagination for the future.
“This event is expected to assist students in uncovering their potential and inspiring their imagination for the future,” Farhan added.
Not only aimed at boosting creativity, Farhan emphasized that the activities are designed to enhance the quality of Indonesia’s future generations.
“This program aims to provide a pleasant learning experience for children,” he explained.
Farhan and his team hope their programs will create a fun educational environment. National Children’s Day is a perfect occasion to celebrate children’s happiness and potential and remind us of their crucial role as the nation’s future generation.
