Five students from Universitas Gadjah Mada, part of the PKM-K UGM team, have successfully developed a traditional house puzzle toy called Arcibo. This product integrates augmented reality (AR) technology and is accessible via an application through a QR code.
Currently, the traditional house puzzle available is the Joglo house. The Arcibo team plans to create versions for Honai, Gadang, and Betang houses.
The Arcibo team comprises five members: Muhammad Rizqi (Information Technology, 2021), Apriana Vika Vianbara (Management, 2021), Angelina Krishna (Architecture, 2022), Indri Wulandari (Civil Infrastructure Management and Maintenance Engineering, 2022), and Shofy Azzahra (Civil Infrastructure Management and Maintenance Engineering, 2022).
Currently, the puzzle products are sold offline and online in various regions across Java, such as West Java, Yogyakarta, Central Java, and East Java.
Arcibo also has multiple social media accounts and marketplaces for product sales. In addition to direct sales, Arcibo offers pre-orders to meet product demand when out of stock. Since the production process is still homemade, it requires considerable time.
“One of our biggest challenges is the production process because we believe the fundamental basis of a product is its quality,” explained Rizqi, the team leader of Arcibo.
Arcibo originated from the team’s desire to preserve tradition through a puzzle series integrated with AR technology. Therefore, Shofy Azzahra created Arcibo’s official slogan, “Preserving Tradition, Creating Innovation.”
“We hope that with such interesting and innovative products, children will start to admire the greatness of their own culture,” said Apriana Vianbara.
