The UGM Volleyball Student Activity Unit (UKM Voli UGM) successfully organized the “Voli Mengabdi” event in Ketandan Hamlet, Sleman Regency on Saturday, Oct. 26.
This event was part of UGM’s community service and one of the annual UKM Voli UGM programs. Held in just one day, it was lively and full of enthusiasm, involving people of all ages, from children to youth and adults.
“Voli Mengabdi is our concrete step to bring sports closer to the community and instill positive values such as sportsmanship, teamwork, and a spirit of togetherness,” said Dr. Hempri Suyatna, Secretary of the Directorate of Student Affairs.
Dr. Suyatna explained that Voli Mengabdi was held in Ketandan Hamlet because the residents and youth there, particularly in volleyball, are highly interested in and have the potential for further development.
UKM Voli UGM also donated a net and four volleyballs supporting volleyball activities in Ketandan Hamlet during the event.
“We hope that this support from UGM will boost the residents’ enthusiasm for playing volleyball and foster a good relationship between UKM Voli UGM and the Ketandan community,” he said.
The Voli Mengabdi event began with a speech, plaque, and volleyball equipment presentation.
A match was held between UKM Voli UGM and the Ketandan Hamlet volleyball team. The game was divided into men’s and women’s teams and concluded with the distribution of door prizes to all residents who participated in the event.
“It was a lot of fun, and now I’m more excited to practice volleyball so we can have another match with the UGM Volleyball team,” said Andi, a youth member of Ketandan Hamlet.
The enthusiastic participation of the residents and support from all parties made this event a community service activity. It strengthened the bond between UKM Voli UGM and the local community.
The Voli Mengabdi event is hoped to continue positively impacting the community and UKM Voli UGM in terms of sports skills development and character building.
