The UGM TAKI team has achieved 1st place in the 2023 Geo Student Competition for the Paper & Poster Competition category.
The team consists of three Geological Engineering students: Rizky Nur Muhammad Failasuf, Laila Bunga Aqilah (2021), and Clara Helena Putri (2019), under the guidance of Agus Hendratno.
FGMI-IAGI and SM-IAGI ITB organized this competition from August 1 to October 15, 2023. In this national-level competition, the UGM team created scientific papers and posters on topics within the scope of earth sciences innovations and breakthroughs.
“The Paper & Poster Competition goes through three stages of selection: online abstract selection, full paper and poster (online), and a final presentation held offline in Bandung,” said Clara Helena Putri on Tuesday (November 14).
“Each stage of the selection process is reviewed by the GEOSC 2023 committee and assessed by a jury of Geological Engineering lecturers and professional practitioners.”
Putri explained that the TAKI team presented a paper and poster on geotourism titled “Feasibility Study of Geotourism in Nagari Harau and Surroundings, Harau District, Lima Puluh Kota Regency, West Sumatra Province.”
The focus was on four cliffs commonly used for rock climbing.
“This competition has been an extraordinary experience for us. Regardless of the final result, we gained many insights and valuable experiences in writing papers and creating posters, as well as expanding our network and friendships with participants from other institutions,” she expressed.
“Through this competition, we hope to make a meaningful positive contribution to the academic world, especially in geotourism.”
